Senior.

I HATED my senior year. That’s a lie.
I loved my senior year LESS than I did the other 3 years of high school. It was a rough year for me… I moved halfway through the year, I almost wasn’t in the yearbook as a result, I didn’t get the classes I wanted (so I didn’t go to most of them), I’d already completed my technical requirements for graduation by the middle of my Junior year, so I just needed to physically be there in order to walk in June.

But I did get a tattoo (which was awesome)... and I loved my senior photos.
They were done in a mall studio the day my mother lost her job. I didn’t really want to smile, but I did, and luckily I had a “photographer” who let me boss her around and tell her exactly what I wanted. I was totally pleased with them and I really felt that they captured who I was at the time. That was exactly what I wanted to do for my nanny’s daughter, who is a senior this year.I have admired this young woman since the day I met her. She’s so intelligent, fashion forward, spiritual, family-oriented, and genuinely caring and kind-hearted. Kids like her are so hard to find (although her brother and sister are the same way… hence us being so comfortable with their mother helping raise our daughter). I was thrilled to spend the day with her, capturing her gentle but unique spirit. We spent all morning and afternoon together – had lunch, changed outfits a few times, and laughed… A LOT. I had a great time learning more about her and her ambitious, optimistic plans for the future, and hearing about some of the things that have changed since I was in high school (8 years ago… shoot me.). I am so grateful for the opportunity to document this exciting time in this young woman’s life. I hope these photos do for her what mine did for me; serve as a reminder of who I was and how far I’ve come. Samples can be found in my "Senior" portfolio.

Congratulations!

Cupcake's First Birthday!

It's been a little crazy around here!!. Hot on the heels of our BIG wedding in November, Christmas in December, a big road trip for my Husband and My birthday in January came our daughter's first birthday in February. But I'm finally back on track, and here's some of the photos from the big day!

Enjoy!

"Ok guys, I'm done, get me cleaned up NOW!"

Super Fun Family Shoot!

My oldest friend (not that she's like, 80 or anything, she's the friend I've had the longest. Women our age are apparently supposed to be sensitive about that) asked me to photograph her children, expressing that they hadn't had professional photos since their middle child was a baby! I was super excited, and had a perfect spot in mind. This shoot struck a personal note with me, as of her three kids, I'd only met one! She'd recently moved back to California from Texas, so I hadn't seen her in years either! It was super fun and we got some amazing photos of her beautiful children!

Enjoy!
