Long engagements are really starting to make a comeback. There are plenty of theories as to why, but honestly, I think people are putting so much more thought and time into the personal details of their big day, and really slowing down to make their wedding THEIRS. Cookie cutter weddings are OUT - trust me, I see at least one every weekend - and this wedding was ANYTHING but cookie cutter.
This bride and groom mulled over and perfected EVERY detail of their big day together. This groom was so involved in the planning process I communicated with him about details almost as much as I did with his lovely bride! With a big wedding party, a big family on both sides, and a beautiful hilltop venue, it was an awesome night, and the little details that they worked so hard - and so long - on made it truly unique to them. It really was their BIG day, and I am so pleased with their photos.

Twins.
Newborns. Own. My. Heart.
I've said it once, I will say it a million times. I LOVE working with little squishy newborns. It makes me smile. Normally, I do newborn sessions in the family's home to reduce stress on both Mom and baby, and to produce a more relaxed environment, and subsequently a more cooperative baby. Not to mention, I like shooting newborns in natural light. This time around, however, I had some BIG plans and wanted to use more props than I could fit in the trunk of my Corolla so I borrowed some studio space from a good friend and colleague.
These little princesses were born a little early, like most twins are, and were small, but perfectly healthy (praise God). I had a great time working with them and they were SO very cooperative. I called in my assistant to be an extra set of hands (and to give mom and dad a little break!) and we both left with baby fever! These little sweeties just made my week - I am so excited to share them with you.

Big.
Big Bear, California holds a very special place in my heart. We have a vacation home by the lake, and visit it as often as we can. It's where we retreated after my husband proposed to me, and where my father-in-law took our engagement photos (did I ever mention that I come from a family of photographers?). It's where we told my best friend that I was pregnant and where we have celebrated so many birthdays, holidays, and milestones. I was thrilled to shoot a wedding in a place to special to my family.
This sweet couple had a beautiful wedding at a small hotel in Big Bear City, and it was so nice to get away from the reception for an hour to do their romantic portraits on a little secluded beach. My assistant and I talked about how detailed and beautiful their wedding was the whole drive home, and I am SO pleased with the way their photos turned out. I look forward to working with this wonderful family again!
