Girly.

I've said it once, I've said it a million times. Newborns own my heart. I can't get enough of them... I even love the sessions that are stressful, messy, or loud.

My friend and his wife had a baby 2 weeks ago. She's so incredibly precious and I jumped at the chance to take her newborn photos. It was an hour drive to their home, but it was totally worth it. Shooting newborns in their own home has proven so much easier and more productive than in my home studio. I was so pleased with these photos, and it was a wonderful excuse to meet my friends' new little princess.

Together.

A friend referred a client to me last week, who told me that her father in law was moving out of state soon, and they would really like to have three-generation and family photos taken before he left. I was so glad I got the opportunity to be a part of this. I'm currently lucky enough to have 4 generations in my family, my grandmother right on down to my daughter, so I know how important it is to capture these memories while we can. I'm really pleased with the way the session turned out!

Three generations.... LOVE THIS!

Early.

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to do a one year/cake smash session with a sweet little boy who's mommy happened to be 7 months pregnant with another boy! I was delighted to get the call to do the new baby's newborn photos last week, but thought twice about the date - turns out he was almost three weeks early, and praise the LORD, completely healthy!! I was excited to work with such a tiny baby, but it was a little nerve wracking; he was a fragile little thing! It's been really exciting to be a part of this exciting time in their family - I'm so glad this little guy was brought into the world so healthy, and I can't wait to see him grow!

Sisters.

A friend of mine mentioned many months ago that she wanted to get some photos done of her and her sisters. She has four of them. I've been friends with her long enough that I remember when three of those four were born. It really hit me how long we'd been friends (and how old we were) when she asked me to do a session with them the morning that the youngest sister was to graduate high school. WOW. They aren't all "kid" sisters anymore. They're all women. Two of them are mothers, one of them has her own life on the other side of the country (though she would be in town for graduation), and all of them are gorgeous. They'd spent time with professional photographers before, since they'd all been on the pageant circuit at one time or another (and one still is). Needless to say, I was really excited.

The results were beautiful (if I do say so myself) and the session was really fun. I really am blessed to have such photogenic friends.

Family.

I've had a ton of family sessions lately. So many that I can't possibly sit and blog about each one. So I'll drop these few quickies from my most recent sessions and leave you with this:

"Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."   Psalms 127:3-5

Weddin'.

Yay for weddings!! Yay for anything in the country!! Yay for anything Americana!!

Triple yay for an Americana country wedding!!

In all my years I've photographed, attended, and participated in ALOT of weddings. This one was bay far one of the most fun. Ever.

The day I met with this bride, she described her family as something like The Brady Bunch - she has two girls, he has three boys, and then "one day when he lady met this fellow...."
I'm not going to pay for the rights to that song, so go ahead and sing it to yourself...

Done? Ok let's continue.
Their children, the parents, siblings, and friends of these two very special people were an immense pleasure to work with. I forgot I was working, and truly enjoyed the day. It was a beautiful wedding, and an awesome party! Here's to many years of blessings for this beautiful family!!

New.

I love babies.

I didn't until I had one of my own.

Now my "baby" is 16 months old and we're facing the "when are you going to have another one?" stage. It's still up in the air, but we know one thing for sure: when we DO have another one, we're praying for a penis.

I really don't know what we're going to do if we have two girls... I proactively wince for my husband's sanity.

Anyway, in the midst of all of this "when are you going to have another one?" talk, I got the opportunity to shoot a newborn session for a beautiful baby boy. He was 11 days old when he came to see me, and he just stole my heart. I had such a good time with this session, I'm sorry it took so long to share.

Please see my "babies" portfolio for more newborn and baby shots.
